Global Solo Challenge and TriPeak announce technology partnership for 2027–2028 race
New race tracking and integrated onboard media solutions will bring the Global Solo Challenge closer to its audience, making technology previously associated with much larger racing budgets accessible to the GSC fleet.

The Global Solo Challenge (GSC) has announced a partnership with Swedish technology company TriPeak AB, which will become its Technology Partner for the 2027–2028 edition of the solo, non-stop round-the-world race.
The collaboration will introduce a new race tracking platform integrating weather forecasts, performance information and onboard media content, allowing followers to explore both the progress of the fleet and the experiences of individual skippers throughout their circumnavigations.
Live video and frequent onboard updates have become familiar features of major sailing events. Thanks to increasingly affordable satellite broadband through Starlink, and the partnership with TriPeak, the Global Solo Challenge aims to make comparable media capabilities accessible to competitors operating with significantly smaller budgets.
The partnership focuses on three areas:
- Race tracking: A new interactive platform combining satellite positions, weather forecasts, race statistics, projected arrivals and onboard media content in a single interface.
- Media sharing for the entire fleet: Every skipper will have access to a free, lightweight solution for publishing photographs, videos and updates directly to the race tracker, linked to their position along the course.
- Affordable live onboard coverage: Competitors will have the option of using a heavily subsidised TriPeak media system supporting fixed and handheld cameras, camera selection and live streaming, with content available to their own audiences and the GSC media team.

“Audiences have become accustomed to live video and frequent onboard updates from major sailing events such as the America's Cup, Vendée Globe and The Ocean Race. Until recently, producing that kind of coverage required budgets that were beyond the reach of our typical competitor.”
“Affordable satellite broadband has changed what is possible, and our partnership with TriPeak will help us put that technology within reach of the GSC fleet. We want every skipper to have the opportunity to share their experience and we want everyone following the race to connect not just with the positions on a chart, but with the people and stories behind them.”
“At TriPeak our mission is to make ocean racing an engaging experience for a much wider public: not only following positions on a map, but sharing what it really means to sail alone around the world. If following the Global Solo Challenge inspires even a few people to cast off and live their own adventure, we will have done our job. We will also use this partnership to keep developing our weather and route-planning tools, with the goal of making them available to every sailor.”

Development of the platform and onboard media solutions is under way ahead of the 2027–2028 Global Solo Challenge, which will see competitors depart from Vigo, Spain, at staggered intervals to sail solo and non-stop around the world via the three great capes.
