The challenge

Offshore racing is the best story in sport, and the hardest one to show.

Dots on a map
A position every few hours is not a story. Fans want to know who is really leading, who is gaining, and what each boat is sailing through.
Nobody to film it
Solo and short-handed skippers are busy sailing. Capture has to happen by itself, and footage from a phone has to reach the audience without a production team on board.
Months without service
Salt, condensation, shock, scarce power and a satellite link that comes and goes. At sea, nobody is coming to restart it.

Every boat, every report, and the story between them.

The tracker works from the positions the event already collects, so it covers the whole fleet without fitting anything on board. Boats carrying our unit add what they are really sailing in, straight from their own instruments. We have run it against complete past editions of round-the-world races.

Projected standing
Each boat's arrival projected from her own remaining course and recent pace, ranked by who gets home first. Built for staggered starts and long races where distance to finish says little.
A statistics layer
24-hour and 7-day runs, fleet records, gains on the leader, speed for the wind, and duels between any two boats. Something to say on a quiet day in the Southern Ocean.
Weather at the boat
Wind speed, direction and gusts at each boat's position and time, with the weather across the course and the fleet on top.
Replay and ghost tracks
Scrub through any period at any speed, or race the current fleet against an earlier boat or edition, with the gap in days.
Live chat
Fans follow the race together, with a live chat beside the map. The tracker becomes a place to come back to, not a page to check.
Media on the map

Six buttons and a screen. That's the whole interface.

Our unit is designed for a skipper who is cold, tired and busy with the boat. Every control is physical, every status is on the display, and there is nothing to configure at sea.

  • Switch camera or microphone with one press, even while live
  • Cameras are found and set up by the unit itself, and recovered if they stop
  • Every camera records continuously, so the moment never has to be anticipated
  • Reads the boat's instruments and its own position, for the overlay and the tracker

The control room shows every boat's link, camera and position at a glance, with live telemetry, stream quality, recordings and uploads one click away. The channels run unattended around the clock; operators step in when the story calls for it.

Case study

Golden Globe Race 2026

The Golden Globe Race is a solo, non-stop race around the world in the spirit of 1968: no GPS, no computers, no electronic autopilots. Skippers navigate by sextant and paper chart for eight to ten months, through the Southern Ocean and around the three great capes.

TriPeak is the race's streaming platform partner. We designed and built the complete system, from the units on board to the produced channel, and we operate it for the whole race. Fans follow the fleet on GGR Window, a 24/7 channel with daily live windows from boats at sea.

The race's rules allow no data of any kind to reach a skipper, so every unit is strictly one-way: video and data go out, nothing comes back in. The whole installation, satellite link included, runs within a 60 W power budget.
